happy halloween

Happy Halloween, lovelies! Tonight I will be donning my Sexy Pottery Teacher costume (funny because it's not sexy at all!) and heading to Nicole's apartment for our joint Halloween party. Expect many silly photos of the festivities. And hey, if you're in San Francisco and want to join us please let me know!

home is where my cat is

photos by Cecilia Austin

A sweet portrait of Donut, the table in my apartment's entryway (featuring Gene Wilder, love of my life), and my crowded bookshelf. The amazing "Party Stunts" game was a gift from a dear friend and the cards inside have the most wonderful illustrations. The sassy blonde's outfit would make a pretty excellent Halloween costume, eh? But don't worry... I have mine all ready to go and it's a funny one. I won't spoil the surprise.

black lace

This is one of my most favorite dresses ever. I wish I could have it copied in every color and type of lace imaginable so that I could wear it every day. It makes me stand up straighter and feel wonderfully ladylike. I hope more like this one find their way into my dress closet, if only to make all the other dresses super jealous.

raincoat season

The good thing about rainy days is that I get to pull out this amazing, swingy raincoat. I bought it a few years ago at H&M and it has served me well through much yucky weather. I've had coats on the mind lately, especially this one. I have dreams about that velvet collar... it's too good. Fortunately I can stop coveting because yesterday morning I found the perfect vintage gray coat. It doesn't have a velvet collar but it's perfect in every other way. Even the lining is an excellent shade of mauve. And the price was much more wallet-friendly... now I have pennies left over for whatever new treasure I find next.

I think Donut might have intentions to take over Fancy Fine. Not that you'd mind, right?

the little things

photos by Cecilia Austin

A few bits and baubles on my dresser, including: vintage perfume bottles I collected when I was a kid, a lipstick-and-lips brooch from Etsy, a sequined panda brooch from a thrift store, monogrammed shoe clips from Francesca, a sheriff badge from Disneyland, and a beautiful comb from the 50's that my grandma gave me recently.

I bought this wonderful cardigan from Golden Fur Vintage and I'm madly in love. Emily, the beautiful blonde behind the store (and this amazing blog), also sent me a few other goodies which will make their way into photos very soon. I'm sure this will be one of many treasures I can't resist from her shop... my willpower is non-existent, people. But hey, just look at my pretty new cardigan!

afternoon adventure

photos by Micaela Hoo

A few days ago I met up with the adorable Micaela and we wandered around downtown and Chinatown while she snapped photos of my slouchy posture and scraggly hairs. I took her to one of the most amazing (and outrageously expensive) vintage stores ever where we sneakily pet all the pretty clothing and resisted the urge to take secret photos. She sweetly coerced me into sitting in the middle of the street in my white dress, because how could I say no that angelic sixteen-year-old face? (Don't worry, I used my purse as a shield.)

You can see the rest of the photos she took here.

devotion

I always feel strangely sultry when I'm all buttoned up. Maybe it's the "hello, secretary" vibe of this kind of outfit. Maybe I was a sassy nun in another life. Whatever it is, you will probably never see me wearing anything overtly sexy, cleavage on display. Sometimes I forget I even have cleavage to show! I'm probably doing a disservice to my boyfriend, but at least I have plenty of short-short dresses to make up for it.

P.S. Thanks to everyone for the super sweet comments... I read every single one and I appreciate them all. What a lovely bunch you are!
