pika pika!

Here's another round of purikura photos, as promised! The magical kingdom where we take these photos is called Pika Pika, which is in the equally magical Japantown. Victor and I both realized the other day that we haven't been there in almost two months. Which, if you take into account the scope of our obsession, is way too long. Fortunately for us they're having a private party this week (for crazies like us) and every photo "machine" will be half price. So I better warn you now that there will be many more of these to come. My goal is to be able to wallpaper an entire room with purikura photos. Which definitely isn't weird at all.

the passionate prude

I have a terrible weakness for smutty pulp books. I judge them based purely on the covers and they are piling up in my bedroom. It would be fun to do a few photo shoots that were faithful to my favorite pulp titles. I'm not much of a Passionate Prude in the photos above, but I certainly could dress up like one...

I'm going to Big Sur tomorrow for the first time, which is crazy because I've lived in California my entire life. I am beyond excited to be surrounded by trees and play in the ocean and take a million photos of it all.

flea market scores

A few treasures from the Alemany flea market and my favorite bookstore, Dogeared Books. I have absolutely no willpower when it comes to silly brooches and even sillier books. I also bought a beautiful white sequined cardigan, a cropped blouse in the loveliest floral print (which I'm wearing in the photos below), and a valentine from the 30's.

A few more photos of a past outfit, shot on film... Sometimes it's more fun with two cameras.

birthdays & magazines

My lovely lady Lauren (alliteration!) celebrated her 23rd birthday last night. There were cocktails galore and a bit of drunken karaoke in a dangerously hot room to top it all off. I've also been itching to finally share with you the article I was featured in for San Francisco magazine. They gave me the entire back page and wrote quite flattering, lovely things... albeit things that made me snort with laughter. It's just too weird reading about yourself. The best part was the description in the table of contents: "A local shopgirl's cyber runway draws international fans." Priceless.

Schoolgirl, Librarian, Lolita, Secretary... I suppose there's a bit of all those in many of my outfits. And probably a good dose of Senior Citizen, too! I adore the mushroom color of this sheer blouse. It hangs in my color-coordinated closet next to several other blouses in the same exact shade, which should probably give me pause the next time I spot an identical one in a thrift store and think, "Oh perfect, I've been wanting one just like this!"
