autumn colors

cardigan  vintage
top  vintage
skirt  vintage
necklace  thrifted
shoes  hand-me-downs

The people that work at the alterations place I frequent probably think I'm completely nuts. I'm always bringing in armfuls of crazy looking floor-length dresses and dowdy thrift store skirts to be made short short short. I really need to learn how to sew, I'd probably save myself hundreds of dollars pretty quickly. Oh well... I'm happy that I had this beauty of a skirt hemmed because now it's absolutely perfect and ready for all kinds of Fall adventures!

that skirt is a-mazing! such perfect colors, how long was it originally? ankle length??

the skirt is really lovely. Are the alterations expensive?

The skirt used to be knee length... which was just all wrong for the kind of heavy fabric it's made of. And I like showing off my legs. ;)

the skirt is really lovely. Which do you spend more on? the actual thrift/vintage find or the alterations.

Ashley,

Hemming a skirt is super easy. If I can do it, so can you. take one beginner's class, and you'll be fine. very cute skirt & I dig the crop top.

ciao.

Amazing skirt!! Such a 60s color scheme, it's lovely. Where do you do your alterations? I've heard there's an amazingly cheap place that does a great job at guerrero and market (across from taco bell/kfc haha), but have yet to wander over there. I'm always open to hearing of other places! I have tons of shirts I've thrifted that I want fitted, and a couple of trousers : /

You show off your legs!! This looks great, and I think these are some of my favorite pictures of you, you look so glowy and happy!! And the only problem with knowing how to sew is you get a big pile of to-dos and mostly never get around to it, haha!

Amanda B: I go to R & A Laundry on Valencia and 24th (weirdly the sign outside says Biltmore French Laundry). They are cheap and do a great job.

Crystal: You are so so right.

Terri: It depends on the piece I'm hemming. Sometimes it's a nicer vintage dress or skirt that I spent a bit more money on, and sometimes it's a $3 skirt I end up getting hemmed for $12. But it's worth it to me because it makes it more wearable!
